Image and Words: A Creative Workshop Exploring the Intersection of Visual Arts and Writing

Location: David's studio in the River Arts District
Discover how visual art can inspire creative writing and how writing can offer a powerful inspiration to create art. Join us for a workshop that explores the elements of these two forms through close looking, imaginative writing, drawing, and collaboration between the literary and visual arts. This workshop is directed at artists, writers, and art enthusiasts who are open to innovation and play. Please bring a notebook, writing implement, and an open mind for a day of creativity and play. All art materials will be provided. Suitable for all levels of writers, artists, and creative thinkers.
Lori Horvitz’s writing has appeared in a variety of journals including Hobart, South Dakota Review, The New York Times, The Guardian, and Hotel Amerika. Professor of English at UNC Asheville, Horvitz holds a Ph.D. in English from SUNY Albany, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Brooklyn College. She is the author of two books of personal essays, The Girls of Usually and Collect Call to My Mother: Essays on Love, Grief, and Getting a Good Night’s Sleep.
